I want to get our family gold and silver jewelry and vessles cleaned and plated to make them absolutely new, shining and durable. I would appreciate if details of chemicals, proportions and technique is suggested for carrying out the job by my self. I do have the knowledge of chemistry to some extent. This will help me to save risk and money at the same time shall provide me with a satisfaction of doing the job with my own hands.

Thanks.

You can get a few of the plating books from our "must-have" booklist, and learn enough about gold and silver plating to try it. But you may find it impractical to do cyanide-free silver plating. Then what? It's fine to do electroplating yourself as long as you have a properly designed industrial facility, rather than a residence, to do it in.
