Metals question for art project [New Mexico]

++++

I am an artist working on a sculpture project. I am using stainless steel for as much of the project as possible. However I may need to use another metal for a strong pole (2" diameter x 8' tall) to mount my project on top of. Using a stainless steel pipe may be too expensive. If I use a galvanized steel pipe, will I risk corrosion? And, will I be able to finish the galvanized pipe with either a bright metal finish or a decorative paint finish which will last for a long time? The upper part of the sculpture is a windmill of sorts - with stainless steel blades and hubs that will be electro-polished to a bright finish. I am electro-polishing it to get the bright finish but I was also told it may serve to protect the metal from corrosion. I am able to send a photo of the model that i built for this project if that helps. The result that i am after is a metal sculpture that will stand outside in the elements without corrosion(losing its strength) or losing its reflective finish.
