Precious metal alloy electroplating

++++

Can you make an electroplating solution out of a precious metal alloy? Reason: I want to electroplate a thin precious metal alloy layer onto a plaster die that has been painted with a metallic coating. Is this possible?

Hello Michael. In private I asked you to please provide more detail before we posted your question, but in this second round I apologize but I still can't understand what you're asking :-)

In general, yes, alloy plating is certainly possible--one of the industry's best known books is Abner Brenner's large 2-volume "Electrodeposition of Alloys". But that doesn't mean all alloys are possible, in fact relatively few are.

Again, I can't understand exactly what you're asking, but no, it isn't practical to make a plating solution out of a lump of alloy if you're asking that. Sorry.
