Custom trophy gold finish [California]

++++

Hi my name is Elgin Moore. I make custom trophies. My question is this. What is the process for a "copy gold plate" such as one you would find on a trophy? I am looking for an alternative to the gold electroplate that I currently use. This would be used on plates and plaques measuring up to 10 inches in diameter and often contain consderable detail.

There are probably many alternatives, but I think I'd try nickel plating followed by a gold-tone electrophoretic lacquer, or maybe a "chrome-like" paint.
