Materials Engineering student investigating
AC anodising
+++
I am currently studying Materials Engineering at Loughborough
University, UK. I have been set a course work assingment comparing AC
anodising with DC anodising. I was wondering if anyone can point me
in the right direction for some resources I could refer to or if you
have some knowledge that you could part with?
AC Anodising – Past, Present and Future
- Review existing AC anodising processes
- Contrast with DC anodising
- Applications/Usefullness
- Future trends in production scenarios
Do as sections i.e. past, present, future including above areas.

Could anyone please give me a brief history of AC anodising, its
uses in history and modern day, I understand basic anodising. I would
like to know how it contrast with DC apart from being softer in some
cases ie for wire coatings. Also what is the future uses of AC and
does anyone know a good website with information on AC. I have
Wernicks and Pinners handbook. Any
help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,

Ed. note: Try to get hold of a copy of "AC Anodising of
Aluminium in Sulphuric Acid Solutions" by W E Cooke, printed in March
1975 issue of Plating and Surface Finishing, and "AC Anodising of
Aluminium in Sulphuric Acid" by Eyre & Gabe, printed in vol. 57,
page 38+ of Transactions of the IMF. Good luck.
