Seeking surface coating to protect chrome plating

I'm looking for a top coating which can protect the chrome-plating. The base materials of the items is Zinc alloy.

Protect it from what, Davy? A high quality nickel-chrome plating can last decades in the most severe environments, as seen in automotive and truck brightwork. --- the chrome is the topcoat. But a low quality nickel-chrome plating simply cannot be saved. If I am misunderstanding, please follow up.

We're seeking for a top surface coating to protect the chrome plating for our Zinc alloy kitchen utensils in order to improve the performance of corrosion to acids (such as lemon or other fruits juice). Actually, we used thicker nickel and chrome layer to prevent the corrosion, the results better than normal thickness and still cannot fulfill our requirements. We are open to adopt any coating or plating method to enhance the quality of our products.

If you give me your exact requirements, as far as corrosion test method (CASS or NSST and how many hours), I can recommend an appropriate process for you.
