Automotive metal corrosion testing

+++

I found a few journal articles about corrosion testing. They gave me an idea for a science project for my research class. I am going to test the corrosion resistance of automobile metal coated with various organic or metallic coatings (I have not decided yet) using the method I researched in these journals. Right now I am trying to draft my procedures but I have not been able to find out what type of metal automobiles are made from. I do not know if there is one answer to this either. Any helpful information would be great.

Thank you,

There are exceptions, but automobiles are made of steel.
