Help, mirror finishing titanium in
tumblers [Argentina]

Hello,
I'm looking some information about titanium polishing. We tried
with the electropolish but it´s very slow for many pieces. And
it's too toxic. I need information about polishing with media in
tumbler or something.

Hmmm. Tough application problem. Most hard metals require a
multiple step process using preformed shaped abrasive media with
different compositions. You are talking at least a 2 step process and
maybe a 5 step process (3 is common). If you are dealing with flat
parts mass finishing is not the way to go. Recently we have gotten
some very successful and interesting results using exotic
combinations of inorganic and an organic mix.

There is great deal of surface finishing for reflective surface
effects performed across the medical, aerospace and jewelry
industries within centrifugal barrel finishing equipment. 2-3 steps
with successively finer abrasive materials are used within time
cycles of 30-90 minutes for each step.
