Sacrificial anode in carbon steel condenser

+++

I like to know how good anodized aluminum anodes when used with carbon steel sea water condenser! Is the Aluminum anode is better than Zinc or Magnesium, please confirm which is better for my purpose. One more thing, what is basis for the number of anodes or who many anodes you are advising to install?

Thanks,

Sami,

Anodized aluminum cannot be used as sacrificial anodes. Sacrificial anodes are typically aluminum, magnesium, and zinc alloys containing other elements, such as indium, etc. It is case-depending to determine which kind of sacrificial anode should be employed. Numbers of anodes to be installed depend on the material, size, configuration, and surface coating of the equipment to be protected, envirenment, and replacement frequency, etc. You need to contract a cathodic protection company to provide you with the professional service.
