Wanted: Experience with Electroplating of Platinum
+++Hi,
I am interested in electroplating of Pt as well. The requirements for my film is rather a large cross section (about 10°Ým x 10°Ým) than a smooth surface. I use H2-Pt-Cl6 (orange color) solved in 0.1M HCl (that¡ýs 0.07M H2-Pt-Cl6 ). I tried to electroplate Pt on a sputtered Pt-film (300nm) on a silicon substrate. The result was terrible, no plated Pt and even worse, the sputtered Pt-film pilled of from the silicon sample. Does someone have any experience with the process parameter ? I repeated the experiments very carefully a few times but always the same result.
Any suggestions?

Although platinum can be plated from chloroplatinic acid as you are attempting, there are certainly major issues involved, such as divalent vs. quadrivalent ions, etc. It is best to align yourself, as professionals do, with a proprietary supplier like Technic who will offer a proven solution.
