Removing tarnish from silver without boiling or aluminium

+++

I am taking part in the science symposium hosted by our school..and my project topic is-to remove the tarnish on silver objects using baking soda [link is to product info at Amazon]..though without boiling or aluminium. Apart from a suitable method I need to know how & why the method works..with a chemical equation. Please..send in your replies soon and remember I need a sure but definitely not long, messy, or dangerous solution.

Baking soda by itself would take an extremely long time to remove tarnish from silver. But, you could mix a tiny amount of water with it and form a rather dry paste that could be used with a lot of effort to polish the silver. No chemical reaction, just plain mechanical removal from an abrasive material.
