Brown stains on stainless steel cooktop

+++

I have a dacor stainless steel gas cook top. The area around the gas jets is not a shiny finish, it's more pebbled. I have been religious above wiping up any spills after cooking, but round brown stains are forming and I cannot get them off. If someone could give some helpful information I would really appreciate it. It's brand new and was quite expensive and I would like to keep it in top shape.

I have the same problem (Looks like a caramel spill) it's syrupy at first but hardens rapidly....have you found a way to clean it other than with a razor blade.

My Dacor is 6 years old and it rusted so badly around the knobs that I may have to replace it.. what is worse we rarely cook.. it is a real piece of expensive junk.. More upsetting is the company agreed based on my photo's that it is rusted so they wanted me to pay almost $ 600.00 to replace it.. Would have been better off with a Kenmore ...live and learn..

I can't comment on Dacor vs. Kenmore, but for the benefit of those whose ranges aren't rusted yet: never use steel wool on stainless steel. This will cause the stainless to rust no matter how high quality it is.
