Stripping of DLC with Ti underlayer

+++

I am looking for a method to strip DLC with Ti underlayer on the stainless substrate. I tried to used concentrated HF solution, but there is no chemical stripping action even after an hour! Some people say burning DLC at high temperature can do this, but are there any other experience success in doing this?

DLC coatings with underlayer of Ti can be stripped by reactive ion etching. The process is a reactive plasma based process and is very successful in removing the DLC coating and metal underlayers without ruining the substrates. Some post removal polishing may be required, but it would be minor.
