Testing of Black Chrome Coating

Black Chrome ==>

+++

We are trying a Black chrome plating on a component which may come in contact with food. We want to know whether black chrome is non toxic or not and if any testing standard is available or not.

Mr Kaushal

Are you doing Black Chrome plating from a Hexavalent Chrome Bath ? Or are you Black Passivating a zinc plated Component?

In both cases the coating could cause harm if edible food stuff is permitted to come in contact. ( Acidic foodstuff may slowly dissolve the layer)

The solution is not cheap if Black is what you want..

Use Black gold if cost permits. Or take a deviation from your client, and plate tin.
