Should I polish my motorcycle, or should a professional? [California]

Hello,

I have a question about polishing my zx9 motorcycle. I have seen some with the rims and frame polished and they look great. I have never done it and was wondering if I should try it myself or pay a pro to get it done. If you recommend paying a professional, what type of company do I need to go to? What type of places do that? Is it something that is done at a custom type place or metal finishing type of place only? If you recommend doing it myself, what do I need to buy and how easy or difficult is it to do? I would appreciate any assistance anyone could give me.
