Base metal choice

+++

I need to fabricate some parts that eventually will be chrome plated and wonder what base metal would be the best choice. I will have to fasten pieces together before plating and would prefer to siver solder or braze them. Would the use of brass or copper be a good choice and offer any advantages?

Thanks for the help.

Brazing should be okay even if the parts are steel. Brass or copper would be fine as an alternative to steel also.
