316 L SS, SS300, SS304 in saline solution for 72 hrs

The Pressure Sensor that we need to use in our project has its casing made of 316 L SS. The sensor needs to be in saline ( urine ) solution for not more than 72 hours. Can 316 L SS withstand corrosive effect for this much time. How about other SS series SS300, SS304.

Assuming no current flowing through the 316ss, it should take this much immersion in saline urine. I would not trust that 304 or anything less than 316 would do it, but if there is no oxygen donor in the solution, and no current flow, it is possible.

Dear Friend,

You can coat Fluoropolymer based Pharmacutical finishes grades like Teflon on your component, It will solve your problems. It is non stick and better corrosion resistance too.

Castings are castings and the quality, inclusions and porosity varies, so will results. I agree with Lee that 316 should be good, provided the casting is sound.
