Dirtness due to corona treatment

+++

I work for a company that uses corona treatment to increase the adhesion on polypropilene film. The main problem with this tretment is the dirtness due to the reaction between the oxidised compounds formed during the treatment and PEI which is present inside the formulation of the coating we use. This dirtness pollutes the roll we use to print and we have problems in adhesion. Do you have any suggestions to solve this issue?

Hi,

If processing is in vacuum we use argon/oxygen ion beam for stable increase of surface tension on variety of polymers and rubbers. Otherwise, in air we use ultraviolet lamps designed to clean and increase surface tension to about 45-55 dyne/cm commercially. There is no contaminations since both methods do not involve arcing (corona) discharges on the surface of the polymer.
