Electroplating or Electroless nickel with clinch nuts

--

We currently nickel plate steel parts (BS 1449 Part 1 CR4) to BS1224 Fe/Ni10.

However, we may need to go to a more severe environment (indoors were condensation may occur). We will then require to fit clinch nuts to some parts that are fabricated and or have been coldworked by forming.

Will the extra thickness increase the hardness and therefor affect the clinch nut process.

Should we be looking at Electroless plating?
