Colour Determining Parameter in a PVD
Process
+++
Dear Sir,
This is regarding IonPlating of Gold (Brass PVD). Does the Colour
of Gold (after deposition) on a part depend on the previous process
(say, TiN coating) or it depends only on the Composition of the Gold
Target? What is the Composition of Gold to achieve a 3N Colour, with
good adhesion thro (Brass) PVD Process? Assumptions : Max.Practical
Carat Value for Gold (Say, 22 to 23.x)
Best Regards,

To achive 23K you need to use 24K gold lump. All it will depend
what process you are using! TiN will take your colour towards black,
Brass will give you great problem due to Zinc in it. System with
sputtring is different and it will give 22 to 23 K colour with arc
source is different it will give you better adhesion and better 23K
colour.
