Affects of Vitamin C on Penny Oxidation

+++

I am starting a science fair project "The affects of vitamin C on penny oxidation". I have discovered that pennies prior to 1982 are copper where current pennies have are zinc with a copper coating. I am in the 6th grade and I believe I should use one or the other. Do you think it would be better to use the copper pennies or the copper coated pennies? Also, I have read conflicting articles about "copper oxidation" can copper oxidize and why or why not or where is a reliable source to find this information.

Thanks for you help,

Ryan
