Surface roughness - aluminum vs cast iron [Malaysia]

++

Comparing between surfaces of aluminum extrusion 6061 T6 and cast iron, which does have suitable surface roughness if the material is used for machining a pulley ( V-belt driving )???

Kindly give your opinion.

There are advantages and disadvantages of each. I think a better question might be in what environment is the pulley going to be working in. Two of the more common thoughts that come to my mind are: Alum is a softer material and may distort with too much pressure and especially in a hot environment. Iron, if not properly treated, will rust in a wet environment.
