Removing Emblems

++

How do I remove the factory emblems from my car? I want to install silver ones and the dealer charges a lot to install them. Thanks!

To remove them, get some fishing line or dental floss. About 2 feet will do, depending on how many emblems you are removing. You will also need a blow dryer to heat the surface. It is best to do it on a warm day. Anyway, heat the emblem with the blow dryer, make sure you go back and forth so you dont ruin your paint. Then take the fishing line and gently saw through the back of the emblem making sure you pull toward yourself so you wont damage the paint. You may have to reheat the emblem a couple times, take you time, dont rush. After the emblem is removed, you will still have the 3m double sided tape on the car. I have been told to use Goo Gone [link is to product info at Amazon], or any other type of bug and tar remover. Ya, it works, but i found that my fingernail works better. Heat up the left over glue and begin picking away. Be careful not to chip the paint. After the glue is gone, wax the area at least two times. The result, a clear spot with no emblem. Problem solved...Hope this helps.!
