Copper leaves

++

My goal is to put together a 40 ft copper vine with extending leaves as a decorative piece. The copper vine would be made from 10 gauge copper wire and the leaves from a 36 gauge copper tooling foil. (Also using copper mesh as an accent.) What method would be suggested to give the copper leaves that reddish glow and more importantly not experience oxidation (tarnishing and black spots)? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Heat it on the electric range holding with a pair of pliers, until proper hue is gotten, then plunge in water. Works for me.
