RECOVERY OF PLATINUM GROUP METALS

DEAR SIR,

We are the Gold refiners having the chlorination and electrolysis processes. I would like to know the process to recover Platinum, Paladium and other metals from the solutions after recovering gold. I want to know the chemical processes involved in recovering these metals.

Could I receive the answer to this question.

Sorry , Mr. Wolters, no one has chosen to answer it yet. Our readers are usually happy to share tips and advise with an inquirer when the inquiry is specific, interesting, informative, and indicative of a willingness to share information. But when an inquiry looks like a request for one-way transmission of an extremely broad base of knowledge the inquiries often remain unanswered.

This is one common chemical way to recover Platinum from the pregnated solution (chloridic) after you have separated the gold: 1)Add a saturated solution of ammonium chloride to your solution this will precipitate orange crystals which are platinum ammonium chloride. If you wish more detailed explanation of this method please comment.

The best method, I found for recovering the platinum from liquid is to concentrate the liquid by evaporation, then, after filtering, the solution is made acidic with hcl, and then powdered zinc is added. This preciptates the Pt as a black powder. It is almost 99% pure.

So if the black is 99% pure pt, is there other ways that are less pure?
