SEEKING REEL-TO-REEL TINNING LINE AND
RELATED ITEMS
WE ARE A COMPANY WHICH WISHES TO INSTALL A REEL TO REEL ELECTRO
TINNING OR HOT DIP TINNING PLANT FOR COATING PURE TIN ON COPPER AND
BRASS STRIPS OF A WIDTH OF 380 MM MAXIMUM. WITH A STRIP THICKNESS
RANGE OF .8 MM TO .15 MM.
WE ARE CONFUSED WHETHER WE SHOULD GO FOR AN ELECTRO-TINNING LINE
OR A HOT DIP LINE.
WE WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD GIVE US THE FOLLOWING
INFORMATION:
1. NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF THE COMPANIES MAKING HOT DIP AS WELL AS
ELECTRO TINNING REEL TO REEL LINES FOR COPPER AND BRASS.
2. WHICH IS A BETTER TECHNOLOGY HOT DIP OR ELECTRO-TINNING.
3. SINCE OUR PRODUCT WILL HAVE TO FURTHER GO FOR MAKING CONNECTORS
WHAT SHOULD BE THE THICKNESS OF COATING.
4. WHICH INSTRUMENT IS THERE FOR CHECKING THE THICKNESS OF COATING
ON THE SURFACE OF COPPER AND BRASS.
5. WHICH IS A ECONOMICAL PLANT A HOT DIP ONE OR A ELECTRO TINNING
ONE.
PLEASE PROVIDE US THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE COMPANIES MAKING
CHEMICALS FOR HOT DIP AS WELL AS ELECTRO TINNING REEL TO REEL LINES
FOR COPPER AND BRASS
YOUR EARLY REPLY SHALL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Hi, Vidu.
1. Please contact this site's supporting advertiser,
Metfab Technologies, for your
reel-to-reel needs. Sorry, but we cannot ask our advertisers to bear
the costs of posting a list of their competitors who don't advertise
here :-)
2. Both technologies are widely practiced, which would not be the
case if one were better. Generally, electroplated coatings would be
thinner than hot dipped coatings.
3. The tin thickness is a function of the application and may
involve electrical engineering issues as well as plating or hot
dipping issues. But, again, when you know the thickness you will be
able to get a good handle on whether to electroplate or hot dip.
4. X-ray fluorescence thickness testers and beta backscatter
thickness testers probably would both work for this application.
5. I don't think there is an awful lot of difference in capital
cost between plating and hot dipping.
Regards,
