Letter 11860 Seeking Invar treatment [Canada]
I need some information on treatment on INVAR-36. We want to use invar in an assembly with an optical component on an instrument that will be used on a satellite. The recommanded treatment we found is given at the end of this letter. Do you know a company that does this treatment on raw material and on the manufactured parts? "All of the invars should be given a three-step heat treatment for the optimum combination of CTE, strength, and dimensional stability: Anneal at 830ƒC for 30 min/in. of thickness in inert atmosphere and quench in polyalkaline glycol/water solution. Reheat to 570ƒC for 1 hr and air cool. Heat at laeast 48 hr. at 95ƒC and air cool." Christophe Deutsch
