Wear Equation

I am studying the wear in hot rolls of Hi-Cr iron. I'm tring to find the derivation of this wear equation:

WW=K(F/Wxld)^exp x (LxLd/D)

where,
WW=wear
K=wear coeficient
F=Rolling Force
ld=lenght of contact
exp=0.3 (why is this exponential = 0.3? )
L=Rolled strip length
D=Roll Diameter

If some one can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
