Brightness Measurement of Copper Coating

--

I am looking for a method to measure the Brightness of Copper and Epoxy Coating Thickness on an R.F. Inductor.

The Inductor is made from OFHC Copper Magnet Wire, Un-insulated .229 x .325. Wound 10X 2.50 +/- .02 diameter with 10X Equal Spacing .577 = 5.77 Non-Cum. The Inductor is then put through a Bright Dipping operation and hand spray coated with Sherwin-Williams Tile-Clad II Epoxy (B62 Series, Part A and B60T104 Ultradeep Base, Part B), air cured for 24 hours.

The problems we are having with the subjective criteria for brightness (no contamination or tarnishing) and consistent epoxy coating of 2 to 5 mils from end to end. Do you know of any method to measure these requirements?

Or do you know of a better method of elimination of contamination and coating?
