Pickling of soldered components

PICKLING: I came across this term of pickling. They mention pickling pots and medium to help this process. What in actual fact is pickling? Is it the process to whiten out the worked pieces when soldered. I usually plunge the worked pieces when hot in diluted Sulphuric acid to whiten out. Has this to do with the same thing?

Could you give me a detailed description of Pickling, please.

--

Yes, what you are doing is pickling which is using an acid dip to dissolve oxides and smuts from a metal surface.

--

Pickling is simply putting something in some acid. The term is used very widely from removing rust from steel to preserving onions in vinegar. Without more information on where you saw this word I cannot help more.
