ASTM/Mil specs, surface prep of magnesium

1) Is there any way to locate Military Specs or ASTM's on the internet to download.
2) We are plating Electroless Nickel on Magnesium parts and would like to know where I can get some references on Magnesium for cleaning procedures for different types of mag alloys. Thanx in advance

Mil specs are available "free" from assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch (your tax money makes them free to your offshore competitors as well.

ASTM gets a substantial part of their operating income from sales of specifications, so you get theirs from the ASTM website, or through this link on Techstreet or another commercial site licensed to sell them.

As for prepping magnesium though, a terrific reference is ASM International's Metals Handbook, Volume 5: Surface Engineering which has a 20-page chapter just on magnesium. Good luck.
