How does bending affect corrosion of a steel nail?
I'm doing an experiment in High School (year 11) on corrosion. I took 8 steel nails (not galvanised) and I am doing different things to each of them to see how this affects their corrosion. I have decided to bend one of the nails 90 degrees. How will this effect the corrosion of the nail, after I place it in water, and why, if, it does affect the corrosion of the nail.

Hi, Steven. Tensile stress makes steel anodic. If the bend is sharp, you should see more corrosion there.
