Removing Paint From Nonremovable Brass Bannisters

I have read a lot on removing paint from smaller brass objects, but I have 16 foot handrails that can not be soaked in a can. One 16 foot handrail can be removed from the wall, but one 16 foot and 8 foot handrails are attached to wrought iron balusters. A magnet will not stick to the rails and I have scratched fairly deep on the underside of one rail and believe they are solid brass. Someone suggested I use a heat gun ⇦this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , but I'm not sure if this will damage the brass or wrought iron. Any advice would be appreciated.
