Major Rust on Stainless Steel Flatware
Hi, I have a questions regarding stainless steel flatware. About fourteen years ago, we received stainless flatware as a wedding gift. We already had a set that belonged to Grandma, so we used it instead. A few months ago, I took our wedding stainless out of storage and discovered that a bug had gotten into the box and everywhere it had touched the blades of the case knives it had caused major rust spots. I don't want to scratch it to get that off, but I rather have it scratched than rusted. It is not just spots, you can feel it as a raised surface on the knife blade. Do you know of anyway that I can remove this either chemically or physically? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

citric acid based products can remove the rust and re-passivate the affected areas.

Thank you for the info. Is there any product that you would specifically recommend?
