Gold plating of Surgical Instruments
I would like some information on gold plating surgical instruments.
1. What precautions do I need to take to insure that it is contaminant free?
2. Where can I get the necessary equipment?
3. What regulations cover the process of gold plating surgical instruments?
Any information would be appreciated!

In the Equipment Directory are listed a number of suppliers who can provide the equipment.
As for the other questions, sorry, I don't know. However, there are ASTM specs for the electropolishing and passivation of surgical implants--so there may well be ASTM specs for plating surgical instruments. So I'd start with a call to ASTM.
Can you explain a bit more about what you are trying to do? It sounds interesting.

I've Gold plated thousands of instruments. Your best bet is to use 24k gold. Contact a jewelry supplier for equipment It shouldn't cost more than 800$ to set up.
David D [last name deleted for privacy by Editor]$800 to get into the surgical instrument plating business? That might not even cover the cost of the ASTM and FDA specs he'll need for his library!
